DAR - William Allen

Email From Gary Aden to Ms. Cooper wrcmarc@aol.com
Email Dated 1/17/2001

Dear Ms. Cooper,

I was referred to you by Betsey Dykes who mentioned that you
had made contact with her regarding your DAR legacy from William Allen.
I am at the age where I am accumulating data for my grandaughter so that
she can avail herself of membership in such organizations, should she
choose.

I have reviewed several successful DAR applications in the
family utilizing the progenitor name of William Allen and have found
that they were defective inasmuch as they used the wrong William Allen
of Georgia. I really didn't have the heart to tell the family members
involved(they may not have cared as they are elderly). I discovered this
error while doing independent research in cooperation with a
semi-professional genealogist in Georgia about five years ago. I even
visited pertinent sections of Georgia courthouses, etc., except
Savannah.

I am taking the liberty of sending you some pertinent materials to the address
Betsey gave me- Box 40, Montgomeryville, Pa.18936. Unfortunately, some of the
reference materials I referred to were destroyed in a fire a couple of years ago,
but you will get the gist of the idea. Subject to your comfort with the
notion, I seek a copy of your DAR application(SASE enclosed). Short of
hopefully meeting you someday, I look forward to talking with you by
phone to get acquainted and discuss any details. My ultimate mission is
to try to discover where William Allen  and his family originally had
their roots in the old country(ies).

I thank you for your consideration of this request. My
address, phone number, and e-mail address I use for genealogy are below.
With kind regards, I remain Gary Carl Aden, 2403 Corona Court, La Jolla,
California 92037 Phone # (858) 459-0553 e-mail address GO79@WebTv.net

P.S. I just edited the above after it was returned because of an
incorrect e-mail address. I enjoyed talking with you on the phone. You
should receive the above materials by snail mail in the next week or so.
